Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis AKA: Electrology is the only classified permanent (light-coloured) hair removal treatment. Laser hair removal requires pigmentation in the hair follicle. There are carbon dyes that are sometimes used to “dye” the hair and make them more amendable to laser treatment It is a lengthier process, requiring more treatments, and can be slightly more uncomfortable than laser hair removal, but the results certainly are nothing short of permanent.

Some people simply prefer the process of electrolysis and for others, it is simply the better option for your skin and hair type. For example, laser hair removal doesn’t work on grey hair, so electrolysis will be necessary for these clients.

One thing is for sure if you have been waxing, shaving or plucking for your entire adult life, the discomfort of electrolysis won’t be worse than waxing or suffering low self-esteem as a result of unwanted hair on the face or body.

How does electrolysis work? An extremely fine needle or metal probe is inserted into the skin, reaching the hair follicle. Then, a low-level electrical current is applied which travels through the metal probe and permanently destroys the hair follicle. As a result, hair is simply unable to grow back.

Electrolysis hair removal has been used for over 100 years and is a very safe and effective procedure.

Many of our clients enjoy permanent results from laser hair removal, but some may need a combination of laser and electrolysis, or electrolysis on its own. We often recommend electrolysis for clients with blond or red hair as the laser isn’t as effective without dark roots.
